CACTUS OR CACTUS KNOWN AS PLANT OF LIFE

The “Plant of Life” commonly refers to the edible cactus known as Opuntia ficus-indica, also called prickly pear or nopal. This remarkable plant has been valued for centuries in traditional cuisine and natural remedies, especially in regions such as Mexico and other parts of Latin America. Rich in fiber, antioxidants, vitamins, and minerals, nopal is widely appreciated for supporting digestion, hydration, and overall wellness. It is often consumed fresh, cooked, or blended into juices as part of a healthy lifestyle.

 Ingredients:

  • 1 fresh cactus pad (nopal), cleaned and carefully de-thorned
  • 1 cup fresh water
  • Juice of 1 lemon
  • 1 tablespoon honey (optional, for natural sweetness)
  • Small piece of fresh ginger (optional, for added flavor and benefits)

 Method:
First, thoroughly wash the cactus pad under running water and carefully remove all thorns using a knife or vegetable peeler. Rinse again to ensure it is completely clean. Cut the cactus into small cubes to make blending easier. Place the pieces into a blender, add one cup of water, and blend until smooth. If you prefer a lighter texture, strain the mixture to remove excess pulp. Add freshly squeezed lemon juice, honey, and ginger if desired. Mix well and drink fresh in the morning on an empty stomach for best results.
